CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE 2018

Now it’s December the countdown to Christmas can officially begin! I’m usually one of those people who start there Christmas shopping in October so to be in the first week of December and haven’t bought a single gift yet is new to me. This year has just flown – I can’t actually keep up! Throw into the mix buying a house and preparing to move and you can imagine the last couple of months have been chaos… a good chaos though. I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere.

As you may have noticed during this period my blog has unfortunately been put on the  back burner a bit. I’ve posted here and there but not half as much as I would have liked too. However, I couldn’t not do my yearly gift guide. I love seeing everyone else’s (leave a link in the comments if you have one!) so hopefully someone will find mine useful too. So instead of breaking a tradition, here is my 2018 gift guide – you can find all the links below.

THE YEEZY 350 BOOST ‘SEMI FROZEN YELLOW’

November 18, 2017 saw the first of three new Yeezy Boost 350 V2 colour ways set to release before the end of the year. Dubbed the ‘Semi-Frozen Yellow’ the latest release from the Kanye West and Adidas collaboration sees the familiar Boost 350 V2 silhouette sporting a yellow colour way which can be seen on the prime knit upper, midsole and laces.

The upper section of the shoe features a ‘semi-frozen yellow’ prime knit nicely intertwined with a ‘steel grey’ prime knit forming a ‘Zebra’ style pattern which we are used to seeing on the 350 V2’s.

The prime knit upper sits on top of a boost midsole which is encased in a TPU shell and runs the length of the shoe. For the first time, the ‘semi frozen yellow’ features a unique gum tread which rolls up the back of the shoe which is a unusual contrast to the yellow and is the first Yeezy to have a two-toned sole.

To the mid foot of the shoe, the iconic SPLY-350 branding can be seen in red prime knit  and compliments the red stitching found on the pull tab to the heel.

On first thought I wouldn’t typically put yellow, grey and red together but in this instance it works.

Despite being dubbed the most rare to date, this is the first time I haven’t really tried to buy a pair, but ended up ‘winning’  a pair through the sneakersnstuff raffle. I’m so used to taking an L, I wasn’t convinced raffles worked but here we are!

To be honest out of the three pairs being released these would have been the pair I would have least likely to have chosen. However, on arrival I’m  really surprised at how much I do actually like them. The yellow is a lot less bright then I expected and isn’t actually as neon as it looks in some of the promotional photos. They might be the most colourful item of clothing I now own, but I’m happy with the overall look and finish of them.

So after all this time, are Yeezy’s actually worth the hype? In terms of sizing I stuck true to size and found this to fit perfectly. On foot they are reasonably snug and comfortable due to the prime knit upper and boost sole. The only real negative I have is that they are a fairy chunky shoe so if you have quite narrow feet like myself, I wonder if they are a slightly too chunky. At £170, they’re not cheap but with the chance to resell them for over three to four times there worth, you can see why everyone wants a pair of Yeezy’s.

What do you think of the latest Yeezy Boost 350 V2?

AW17 Inspiration

If you’ve been following me for a while now you’ll know how much I hate the colder weather. The only good thing about this time of year is the fact you can wear multiple layers of your favourite clothes to keep you warm. As always I’m going to be keeping it causal this season, however I hope to add in some more interesting pieces with a pair of tailored joggers and a Levi’s sherpa jacket at the top of my wishlist. I also have so much time for the revival of classic Nike silhouettes such as the Air Max 95 and 97s!

What will you be wearing this season?

That’s the good thing about these sort of collections, as well as familiar brands, it’s a great way to try out some other brands too. Rituals and Argentum are completely new brands to me so it will be interesting to see how these go. At £147 to buy on it’s own, you can’t help but have high expectations of the Argentum la potion infinie Anti-Age Cream!

Amongst the products its good to see products from well known and loved brands such as Clinique and Lab Series in there too – staples in my bathroom for years. ELEMIS FOR MEN REVIEW

FullSizeRender 2.jpg

If you’ve been following me you may have heard that I was asked to be part of the #MankindCollective a couple of months ago. Lucky for me this means I get to try out various products and share with you what I thought of them.

This time around it’s the turn of the Elemis for Men skincare range. Elemis is one of those brands I typically associate with Spa treatments and although I know of them, I have never actually used any of the products so I was excited to finally put them to the test!

The Elemis for Men range is specially formulated for men’s skin. Designed to combat the effects of shaving, everyday life and pollution, the range aims to instantly boost and hydrate skin. With that in mind, the two products I will be talking about are the Elemis Deep Cleanse Facial Wash* and the Elemis Daily Moisture Boost* Moisturiser.

First up is the Deep Cleanse Facial Wash. What it says:

‘The ultimate daily cleansing solution, leaving skin brilliantly clean, revived and refreshed.’

The first thing I like about this cleanser is the consistency and how a little goes a long way. Similar to the Tom Ford face cleanser, this is a gel cleanser and feels thick and luxurious. As the product doesn’t lather up particularly much you can really massage the product into your skin for a ‘deep cleanse’ feel rather than having a face full of bubbles.

I have been using this twice daily now and can say I’m impressed with how refreshed it makes me feel after use, especially in the mornings. The hint of spearmint leaves your skin feeling cool and awake whilst the milk protein locks in the moisture and leaves your skin feeling nourished. The addition of oak bark along with the spearmint gives the cleanser a real masculine scent which is soothing rather than over powering.

Daily Moisture Boost. What it says:

‘Nourishing lightweight, daily moisturiser’

After the skin is cleansed it’s important to apply a moisturiser to lock in any moisture which may have been lost at the cleansing stage. The lightweight formula of the Elemis Moisture Boost instantly rehydrates your skin and leaves it feeling fresh. As well as being a great everyday moisturiser, the Moisture Boost is also ideal for people who may experience irritation through shaving as the formula is very similar to an aftershave balm. The lengthy list of beneficial ingredients really help to soothe and soften the skin, all while keeping it nourished.

Have you tried any of the Elemis for Men range?
