Thinking back to about a year ago, my entire trainer (sneaker) collection was primarily made up of Nike. Over the past couple of months my love of Nike has slowly been replaced with adidas, and in particular, adidas Boosts.
Although I’m still yet to bag a pair of Yeezy Boosts, my first dabble in the world of premium sneakers comes in the form of the Y-3 Pure Boost ZG Knit, a new design for Spring/Summer 16. The latest collaboration from Japanese master of design, Yohji Yamamoto, and German sportswear giants adidas first made there debut last year on the Paris Runway and have since done the rounds on instagram, becoming a much sought after model for 2016.
The Pure Boost ZG Knit features a primeknit upper with premium flat laces. Y-3 branding can be seen on the leather tongue and on the three stripes to the outer of the shoes. The silhouette is completed with a Boost midsole which is not only renowned for it’s energy returning properties, but is extremely comfortable on foot.
The shoes come well packaged in a minimal black box and contains dust bags for each shoe, and spare laces.
In terms of colour, the Y-3 Pure Boost ZG Knit is available in a timeless black/white option as well as an all-black variation. I opted for the black and white version as I think it has a great summer feel too it, which will look good whether you’re wearing them with a pair of shorts or with some torn blue jeans.
As always, Instagram is a great source of inspiration so here are some of my favourite images and looks featuring the Y-3 silhouette.
What do you think of my latest pick up?
