BLACK Friday Pick Ups

Rains Bomber £75 £30 // Nike Juvenate £72 £44 // Vans Sk8-Hi MTE Black/Leather £70 £49.99 // The North Face Salty Dog Beanie £30 £24 // Topman MA1 Bomber Jacket £50 £25

Looking at the selection of clothes I bought during Black Friday I’m starting to think I took the whole thing a bit too literal this year – not exactly the most colourful selection of clothes!

Anyway, the plan was to grab a few bargains for my upcoming trip to Iceland. Some pieces that will keep me warm and dry, look good and will last longer than the trip itself. I decided rather than deal with the high streets, that instead I would see what the virtual high street had to offer and managed to get some items I’m really happy with!

First up are these Vans Sk8-Hi MTE which I featured on another post. For just short of £50, these Mountain Edition Vans feature a premium leather upper treated with Scotchguard, a heat retention layer between the sock liner and outsole and a lug outsole for maximum traction, which are guaranteed to keep my feet warm and dry during my trip away. I had planned to get them anyway so to find them included in the deals was a huge bonus. They also look great on so I’m sure they will be getting plenty of wear through the Winter months and not just for Iceland.

Next was this The North Face beanie. The grey hat is double layered with a fleece lining so will act as a barrier against the cold and keep my head warm. It also fits really well, not too tight or oversized so overall a good purchase.

The next two jackets from Topman and Rains were too good to pass up. I doubt I’ll be taking either away with me but they are sure to get plenty of wear in different circumstances, which brings me on to my final purchase.

The last thing I bought during Black Friday was the Nike Juvenates, which were a bit of an impulse purchase if I’m honest. The Nike Juvenate was a new style for 2015 and is quite similar to the Roshe Run silhouette. The upper is completely collapsible and the sock liner is breathable and provides good support so could potentially be a pair to take away during the Summer, but we will see, I haven’t decided whether to keep them or not just yet.

LPU | H&M, Nike Air Max 1, iPhone 6S

It feels like forever since I last posted something. Juggling a full time job, social life and my current Netflix obsession leaves little time for anything else (how good is Narcos by the way?). I also recently upgraded to the new iPhone 6S and ended up without a phone for ten whole days. It’s scary how much technology has become part of our everyday lives.

Anyway, with a new phone in tow, I headed to Manchester this past weekend. Manchester is one of my favourite cities in the UK, bursting with architecture, all the shops you need and of course, a great night life. Between the copious amount of alcohol that was consumed I managed to pick up a few new bits along the way. A relatively modest ‘haul’, considering it was payday weekend; due to this John Elliot + Co crew not being in my size. Sad face.

The items I did pick up leads me to this post; my latest pick ups. So here’s a few things I have recently purchased, as always let me know what you think:

First up, are these Nike Air Max 1 in Black/Bone. I had a similar pair last year, but regrettably sold them, so these are more of a repurchase then a new purchase. I’m a big fan of the Air Max 1 silhouette and this black and white colour way with the gum sole perfectly matches my entire wardrobe. Whilst my previous pair started to look a bit tatty after a few wears due to the suede upper, this newer version features a leather upper so should stay looking good for a lot longer.

Next up, a couple of items from H&M. As mentioned on another post, H&M have really stepped up their basics ‘divided’ range in the last couple of months with a heavy focus on key trends and in particular ‘streetwear’. I picked up these Twill Joggers in Black. Featuring an elasticated waist with long drawstrings, tapered elasticated legs and an inside zip at the hems, they have that Fear of God look to them but without the price tag. At £19.99 these are an absolute steal.

The olive green shirt is also from H&M, and features a dropped back hem and raw edge details. At £12.99, this is also really affordable and can be used to layer up.

Finally, the ‘sand’ coloured sweater is another eBay bargain much like the Fruit of the Loom hoody I featured in the ‘Back to Basics‘ post.  This time the brand is Gildan and cost me just £6.10. I bought it in a medium, which is slightly oversized on me, however the bottom hem is quite tight so I may repurchase this in a large or cut the elasticated hem off to give it a more loose raw edge look.. What do you think of these purchases?

LPU | January Sales

I tend to do most of my shopping online these days, especially around the festive period. It’s always nice to come home to a parcel waiting and it cuts out all the stress associated with shopping!

I’m not usually one for the January sales. I always end up panic buying something because its a bargain and then immediately regret it. I have now learnt to first ask myself “would you buy it at full price?” and if the answers no, then its not necessarily something I need or want. Theres something therapeutic and satisfying about having numerous products in your online basket and then closing the browser.  On the other hand it then justifies buying the other stuff you want. Right?

Heres a few things I have picked up recently.

Vans Classic Old Skool  Urban Industry Was £51.95 Now £35.95

Well, you can’t really go wrong with a pair of vans can you? Ever since I purchased the ‘grape’ suede version of these last summer I have wanted this particular pair in black and navy. The classic retro style of these will no doubt look good with any outfit, and will be perfect for summer and my upcoming travels. I’m really pleased with them.

Universal Works Urban Sock – Smith & Morris Was £14 Now £4.19 (per pair)

British Menswear brand Universal Works just keeps getting better. The quality of these socks are great, the blocks of red and white are a great addition and the fact they are made in England just tops it off. I couldn’t usually justify spending £14 on one pair of socks, but after seeing these I could be persuaded.

Nike SB x Poler – Nike  £28

While this wasn’t in a sale, it is something I have wanted. 2014 was the year of collaborations between brands, this being one of the better ones mixing Nike SB’s casual skate style with the outdoor vibes of Poler. The shirt itself is pretty basic, you can’t really fault a short sleeve grey t-shirt, but with the inclusion of dri-fit technology this shirt will be perfect during those warmer summer months (wishful thinking).

Did you pick anything up in the sales?
